No "Corn Sugar" for you

No "Corn Sugar" for you

Looks like the plan to rebrand High-Fructose Corn Syrup (http://sumocat.blogspot.com/2010/09/hfcs-rebranding-as-corn-sugar.html) as "corn sugar" has run into a legal speed bump (http://www.theatlantic.com/food/archive/2010/09/sorry-corn-refiners-the-name-corn-sugar-is-already-taken/63269/). Turns out that definition is already used in a way that cannot apply to HFCS. Guess they'll just have to keep peddling that poison under the same old name. Still wondering why high-fructose corn syrup can't be sold in stores like every other sweetener. And no, plain corn syrup sweetened with HFCS doesn't count.

HFCS rebranding as "Corn Sugar"

HFCS rebranding as "Corn Sugar"

The corn industry, reeling from the impact of an awakened public, has decided to address the problem in the tried and true corporate manner: rebranding (http://consumerist.com/2010/09/hfcs-rebrands-as-corn-sugar.html).

Going forward, high fructose corn syrup will be called "corn sugar" regardless of the fact it's really starch converted to glucose then chemically altered to fructose. Probably still won't be on store shelves next to real sugar either. Every other sweetener from real sugar to sucralose to Stevia can be purchased in pure form but "corn sugar" is still restricted to industrial use. Why is that ?

A present for Brian Kilmeade

A present for Brian Kilmeade

Brian Kilmeade of Fox and Friends today claimed a study in Finland and Sweden on the link between marriage and dementia doesn't apply to us in the U.S. because...

["We keep marrying other species and other ethnics..."] (http://gawker.com/5310208/brian-kilmeade-would-like-species-and-ethnics-to-remain-pure)

Last I checked, marrying other species wasn't commonplace. As for marrying other "ethnics"...

...yeah, I guess that is happening.
