It's called Apple Software Update
Apparently some people are upset (http://www.tuaw.com/2008/03/21/is-apple-pushing-safari-3-1-on-windows-users/) that Apple (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Inc.) is pushing out their update to Safari (http://www.apple.com/safari/) through, get this, Apple Software Update (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_Update). The complaint is that it's being pushed on people who don't already have Safari installed. Yes, you can elect to not install the new Safari. No, you don't need ASU to update iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/) or QuickTime (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/). Yeah, I get why people would think it's intrusive, but honestly, no one was forced to install ASU and the fact that it pushes out Apple software is strongly implied in its name.
