I should buy a new camera someday...

...but not today! Finally got serious about replacing my broken camera (http://sumocat.blogspot.com/2008/04/my-free-camera-is-broken.html), the one we found on the side of the road (http://sumocat.blogspot.com/2005/11/found-digital-camera.html), and bought a refurb of the same model - Casio Exilim Ex-S500 - from Casio's eBay outlet.

Price with shipping and tax came to around $80, which is really good considering I've seen it in that price range for used units with no guarantee of condition. Mine came with a 90 day warrantee from Casio and what appear to be a new battery and accessories. Now we have two cradles for charging and docking and an extra battery. Sweet deal.

I will have to test the camera thoroughly the next few weeks while it is still under warranty. The ideal test subjects will be the much-discussed but never photographed vegetable garden we've started. Photos will be uploaded to Picasa (http://picasaweb.google.com/sumocat666/Garden2008). More to come.

So what the rip is Ript?

Sorry for going on such a tear on Ript (http://www.ript.com/) without stopping to explain what it is.

Basically, it's a simple app that lets you drag and drop images into a "pile", which you can later arrange, rotate, resize, and layer, like a scrapbook. Other apps can do the same and much more, but Ript does it with great simplicity and works fantastically with the pen. Best of all, it fits right in with my existing arsenal of ink blogging tools to give me more options.

Ript is currently available as a public beta, and so far the testing has gone well. Hope it continues to grow.

I got Ript!

No, I didn't turn really buff or get taken in a scam. I downloaded a little app called Ript (http://ript.com/) that lets me easily gather images into scrapbook-style pages. Need to play with it some more, but I love how simple it is. Good stuff!
