Mis-Adventures in Wireless NetworkingGoing to a friend's house to set up her wireless network. DSL + 802.11g router, one desktop and one laptop. Not sure how her outlets ane laid out, so I may wire the desktop, upgrade it to wifi, or go with a range extender, wired or wireless. Kind of hoping it's the first since that will be quickest to do, but one of the others would make it more of a challenge, at least to determine which will best fit.
Returned from a friend's house to set up a wireless network. Should have been a simple affair since I'd set up two DSL to wifi systems before. I even pre-set a router for my mom for her wifi network at home. This one, however, just would not behave. Verizon did something different since I set up my last one. Something in the DSL installation software I think or maybe the modem wasn't switching to bridge mode correctly. Regardless, normal router installation wasn't working and none of the tricks I looked up did anything either. Whatever changed, it's not something I could fix.
