Build 52: Not Rebuilt But Re, Um, Better
Yeah, yeah, I know I'm supposed to be working on an all-new, all-awesome version (http://sumocat.blogspot.com/2008/09/contemplating-next-build-52.html) of Build 52 (http://sumocat.blogspot.com/search/label/Build%2052), my custom web tool for creating Links in Ink. But, you know, re-coding all that in xhtml is hard. Requires a lot of different JavaScript and cuts out IE-only functionality. I'll need to put in some solid time to restructure it. However, it's easy enough to introduce some of the functionality changes into the current version, so I've moved forward with that.
The updated version is already online. (http://www.markandtanya.us/scribbles/Build52.html) The immediately apparent change is the control panel is fixed to the lower right. Scroll up and down and it'll still be there. This could require some wrangling if you add too many links, but it's manageable.
Oh, you'll also notice the "Add Link in Ink" button is now missing, which would seem to make the previous point moot, except I've moved that functionality to the image itself. Yep, just tap anywhere on the image and a Link in Ink box will pop up where you tap. Made sense to me since that's where the links go. Just be cautious of mis-taps. If that becomes a problem for anyone let me know. I have a couple of ideas for a fix.
Anyway, there are a few other minor tweaks, but those are the big functionality improvements. Or at least they'll be improvements for me based on my near-daily usage. But if anyone else doesn't like it or has ideas, please let me know.
