Microsoft's "Engineering Windows 7" (http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/02/09/recognizing-improvements-in-windows-7-handwriting.aspx) blog has posted a delightfully in-depth write-up (http://blogs.msdn.com/e7/archive/2009/02/09/recognizing-improvements-in-windows-7-handwriting.aspx) on Microsoft's process for improving their handwriting recognition engine. Sorry, that's a lie. It is as boring as unflavored oatmeal, and that's from someone who uses handwriting recognition all the time, like right now to make what you're reading searchable and to launch the apps I use to create it. I did, however, read it all the way through and found it enlightening. I really like that the technology improves as more people use it. Wonderful work from the engineers at Microsoft.
