Well, well, Universal Music Group (http://tinyurl.com/2jl3eb) is conducting a test of DRM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management)-free music by offering it through various sites, such as their artists' websites. Absent from the test is iTunes, but because there's no DRM, the test does not cut out iPod & iPhone users. Going DRM-free lets them have their cake and eat it too. How ironic that DRM was blocking their ability to control the distribution of their music. Oh well. Good luck with the test, but not so much that you jack up prices.
