Kicking it old school with Mango Shave Ice

As I rambled earlier (http://sumocats.blogspot.com/2011/04/eating-mango-shave-ice-with-adzuki-and.html), I got my shave ice fix today at Hau Lani Shave Ice (http://www.haulani.com/) in Manassas. I went old school on this one with ice cream and adzuki beans on the bottom. Ironically, I usually stuck with ice only when I was back home, but I thought I'd go full in since it's such a rare treat here. Next time I'm going hanabata days kine with ice cream and strawberry flavor.

One Tenth Finished with my Fish Boycott

Sated some of my five-year suppressed seafood cravings with faux seafood from the Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant (http://www.lotusvegetarian.com/). Usually I find vege-prawn to be chewy or spongy, but the ones at Lotus have an excellent texture. I also had a breaded piece of "fish". Wonderful meal as usual from Lotus. So nice to have the full menu open to us.
