Correction: Jerk WITHOUT a Keyboard
Apparently I struck a nerve with Jeremy Toeman (http://www.livedigitally.com/2009/08/05/are-you-a-jerk-with-a-keyboard/) when I called him out for lacking imagination (http://www.gottabemobile.com/2009/08/04/rant-dont-blame-the-tablet-because-you-suck). His response? Call me a jerk with a keyboard and claim I wouldn't say that to his face. Here's why Jeremy is ridiculously wrong.
#1 - Where's my keyboard? You know I'm a tablet zealot. You think I need a keyboard to be a jerk? That shows imagination. See? No keyboard there.
#2 - You don't think I'd say that to your face? How about the next best thing? Call me tomorrow between 9 and 4 ET
Oh no, I'm not giving you a number, but I'll give you a hint: It's published.
See, Jeremy, the thing is, you do lack imagination. You think I'm hiding behind a screen name, but Sumocat is actually a nickname used by my oldest friends.
The fact is, I'm completely discoverable, which you can prove for yourself. I laugh at anonymity harder than you do. I blog in my own handwriting, in my own voice, and don't hide where I am, not that I can for the most part.
So by all means, give me a call, and we'll discuss this as jerks without keyboards. As a bonus, I will be forced to acknowledge you have a measure of imagination. Not as much as the person who found me without prompting, but it's still something. And I suppose that would afford you a measure of respect, but fair warning: I must watch my language online but not where you can call me. Intrigued yet?

so let me get this straight - in order to prove to you that i have imagination, i need to find your phone number and call you? then on this call you will show me that you are perfectly comfortable telling me i suck and have no imagination on the phone?
i think we're all good where we stand, so thanks for the opportunity, but i'll pass.
and, by the way, if you really read my post you'd notice i even called myself a jerk in it. the whole point of the post, in fact, was NOT about you as an individual. i'd call you and explain it, but i guess i just don't have enough imagination to do that. ;)

I'm not challenging the "jerk" remark, just your confidence that I wouldn't be a jerk to your face. I'm confident that I would, and I'm willing to prove it. It's not a bluff. It's an open invite. You don't want to call me tomorrow, fine, but the invite is there if you change your mind. Bottom line: you think it's easy for people to be jerks when they can hide behind a keyboard. I say, speak for yourself; I don't hide.

I never met Mark in person but I've been following him for years on his blog.
I think it's downright scary that I know everything he mentioned but his phone number. I need to get out more.
The way you wrote your response post, it almost sounded like you describing Mark as a internet bully. You know somebody that hides behind their keyboard and does nothing but attack other people. That's what I took out of that.
From following his blog I have to say that is not the case at all. In his videos, and his blog post Mark has ALWAYS has a strong opinion, but he's always been gentle as a cat(Hint...hint). Not to mention he tries to help any time he can.
When you wrote your first article you pretty much were attacking the tablet community. If I wrote what you wrote I would of expected the responses you received. I'm not saying you were wrong for writing it, you have your own opinion of course, but that in turn gives others the right to express their opinion.
I know your going to say, yeah but then Mark attacked me, and your correct. But he also has the right to his opinion that you lack imagination based one your original post. That's what he based his, as you based your opinion that he's a jerk off of his response.
I have no idea how to close this comment, because I forgot what the point of this comment was.
So yeah.
