How does T-Mobile expect to sell G1s?
I was in the mall the other day looking for the latest Madonna album, Adidas, and a Rubik's Cube, when I passed by the T-Mobile store and saw their big G1 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_phone) display. Thought I'd give it a try so I turned off my Walkman and rolled in to put my hands on a total piece of crap.
Oh no, not the G1, but the cheap plastic mock-up they had on display. Apparently T-Mobile thinks a plastic toy ala something from my youth (ah, 80's flashback makes sense now) can adequately convey what their new Android (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_(mobile_device_platform))-powered G1 can do. I was particularly impressed by the broken one on display because seeing the screen detached from the body carries more weight than feeling the flimsiness of the model in my hands.
T-Mobile... how to put this... WTF? You make the effort of being the first guys with an Android phone, then you shank it in the courtyard with a display built for ten year-olds. Actually, given the cheap construction, it's probably not safe for kids. I'm sure the actual G1 phones are quite sturdy, but how is anyone to know when you only have broken toys on display?
