So MP3newswire.net (http://www.mp3newswire.net/stories/6002/ipod-killer-christmas2006.html) has a list of iPod (http://www.apple.com/ipod/ipod.html) killers for the holidays. There are a ton of them out there with lots of great features. Cool stuff actually. But hardware is only one component and honestly not the one that keeps customers. The iPod has marketing behind it, but the ease of use with iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/) is what keeps it on top. The makers of these other players, including Microsoft, don't seem to get that and neither do anti-iPod enthusiasts. Show me an alternative for iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/) that's plug-n-play simple and maybe we'll see an iPod killer.

Where's the iTunes-Killer?

  1. Dunno about anyone else, but I have one of those 256mb Creative Nomad Muvo's because that's essentially all I need for my daily walks to class. To me, the iPod and those that have come along to kill it are characterized by the term "excess". Not to mention they seem bulky, too costly for the functionality and have crappy earbuds. Just me? :P
