iPhone: Netshare working
Netshare may have been pulled from the iTunes App store, but I grabbed it when it popped up again before it got the final yank. Haven't had a chance to test it until yesterday, and the results do not disappoint.
Quick recap: Netshare enables sharing of the iPhone's Internet connection with another device over wifi, basically making it a mobile modem. I tested the connection speed of my tethered tablet (bottom) (http://sumocats.blogspot.com/2008/08/speedtest-via-iphone-netshare.html) then tested the iPhone's direct connection (top) (http://sumocats.blogspot.com/2008/08/speedtest-straight-from-my-iphone.html). Practically identical, as it should be, at a tad more than. 5 Mbps. Certainly not as fast as what I should get at a wifi hotspot, but it works in more places.
Using Proxifier (http://www.proxifier.com/) to route the data. Effective for both web browsing and email. Didn't test anything else, not that I'd use it for anything else except some ftp. Regardless, it should work fine when I'm in a pinch.
Addendum: I started writing this entry last night before the tale of Terry White's disappearing Netshare (http://sumocats.blogspot.com/2008/08/even-when-they-do-nothing-apple-stirs.html) made the rounds, so this is not an attempt to dispute his account. I'm sure he lost Netshare as described, but his timeline indicates a glitch, not an intentional removal.

Oh how I wish I had an iPhone - you're making me jealous mate!
I have the HTC Touch Diamond, and today it has locked up twice, and stuck on constantly vibrating... Not good.

Yep, as long as people realize it's not all rainbows and puppy dogs, the iPhone is a pretty wonderful device.
