The second video in my series on What's in my Gadget Bag focuses on the tablet part of my pack. Like part one, it is brief and focused. Greater detail will come in the photo part of the series, but the grab-and-go modularity of my set-up is hard to explain without motion. Bonus: You get to catch the Sumocat in its natural environment.

  1. Some people obsess over shoes...i obsess over bags! I LOVE your laptop sling bag - where could i find one for myself?
Nice to see that your Scribbler is so fashionably decorated - without a fan, does the unit get really hot? Is there any buzz from the LCD screen? If this unit is silent, it might be an ideal solution for musicians who need a digital music rading device for professional recording situations...

  2. The Incase Laptop Sling Pack used to be available from Apple and direct from the manufacturer, but it appears to be out of production. :(
If you seriously want one, you might have to save a search on eBay and set it to email you if one pops up.

RE: heat, it dissipates through the back panel. Normally, it never gets more than "warm", but if it lies on something insulative (like a bedspread), the heat builds up, though not painfully so.

RE: noise, there are the occasional clicks and brrs from the hard drive (and the whir when it turns on) and some buzzing when wifi is on, but it is very quiet.

  3. Hey, Sumocat, great job on the two short video blog entries! Finally got around to watching them. :) Very cool Autobots decal. :D

I was really surprised to hear that Incase discontinued the sling pack. :( It's the only sling bag I've seen that I can actually carry over my right shoulder if I don't want to fully wear it across my torso.

Hugh, you might want to check your local Apple Store. That's where I got mine. If they don't have one in stock, they might be able to call other Apple stores and perhaps ship it to you or transfer it between stores... I can check my local Apple Stores if you like. :)

Also, check out www.booqbags.com. They're a cool manufacturer of laptop bags, and if I'm not mistaken, they have some sling-style bags as well.

  4. Sumocat,
Good job on the vidcasts.....very entertaining.

You know my wife has been worried for years that there was something seriously wrong with me. Now thanks to your video I can go and show her that I'm not the only one who gives names to inanimate objects....pass on my regards to Dave :o)

  5. Again, excellent vidcast :P I dunno if you get notified of every comment you get, but I if you do and you're reading this, I might suggest that you aggregate all the video podcasts you've done into a menu option on the frontpage so that I can find them easily :P I only found your podcasts today cause you linked to them in your most recent post. They're quite fun to watch, not to mention the flow of comments seems at its greatest when you do one of these :D At any rate, lemme know what's up with that and nice gadget bag
