Water wars starting up in the States
I just read that Georgia (the U.S. State) is moving forward with legal action (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hGzVqxicKsG9eKoQMr7_N0r9a_3wD912OK900) that would move their border to the Tennessee River to give them access to that sweet, sweet water. Their aim is to correct a survey performed in, get this, 1818.
Of course, if they're grabbing more land to get more water, then some state is losing land and water, in this case, Tennessee. I'm sure it will work out amicably enough, but I find it interesting that drought is driving a conflict (albeit a legal one) for water between two states. Our new rainwater collection system (http://sumocat.blogspot.com/2008/05/gardens-and-rain-gutters.html) is looking more worthwhile everyday.

As a Tennessean I just wanna put my two cents into this water war. Georgia can have that land over my dead body. As you can tell I don't like Georgia...and for good reason too! LOL.
But honestly if they would take greater steps to conserve their water and actually build some artificial lakes of their own...they might have water.
